Zurich Jazz Talks #15

On the occasion of his last concert with the Zurich Jazz Orchestra at Moods, we chatted with Thomas Gansch about coffee, Zurich and making music together.

Making music together is important, even essential, for Thomas Gansch. He describes himself as a herd animal. His father was a bandmaster, and he prefers to be in a group than alone. “In a big band, it’s just the most beautiful thing for me as a brass player to stand in a great trumpet section, to play along there and always try to phrase along exactly like the first one and so on. It’s like when you’re on the soccer team and you work together to be the best team. And it’s the same with the big band.”
