Born and raised in Zurich Wiedikon, Mauro discovered his passion for music at an early age. After five years of clarinet lessons, he switched to the saxophone at the age of 13 and got to know the world of jazz with Christoph Irniger.

After studying environmental engineering at ETH Zurich, Mauro began studying jazz at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2018 and completed his master’s degree in summer 2024. During his studies, he takes saxophone lessons with Christoph Grab, Lutz Häfner and Johannes Enders, among others. Mauro also takes clarinet and flute lessons and works on his compositions with Manuel Perovic. As part of his studies, he takes part in various master classes and workshops with Chris Potter, Chris Cheek and Ohad Talmor, among others.
As a bachelor project, Mauro founded the band muralim, with which he won the ‘Best of Bachelor’ award and was later part of the Montreux Jazz Festival Residency and the Suisse Diagonales Jazz Festival.

In addition to his band muralim, Mauro performs in various bands and projects both nationally and internationally. These include the Konkolo Orchestra, the RH Collective and Suma Covjek.
