Toni Amadeus Bechtold is a saxophonist and woodwind player who grew up in Germany and lives in Lucerne. He studied jazz saxophone at the universities of Nuremberg and Lucerne, with Steffen Schorn, Hubert Winter, Klaus Graf and Roland von Flüe, among others. This was followed by countless concerts with small jazz ensembles and big bands throughout Europe and overseas. Toni plays as a permanent member of the Roberto Bossard New Group, the Samuel Leipold Quartet, the Maurus Twerenbold Non-Harmonic Quartet, Druckmittel, the Tobias Becker Big Band and the Bundesjazzorchester (BuJazzO). With these and other formations he can be heard on over 30 recordings. In addition to his activities as a musician, Toni works as a music researcher at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at the University of Birmingham.
