100 Years Miles Davis – Zurich Jazz Orchestra feat. Thomas Gansch (flh)

The celebrate the centenary of Miles Davis, the Zurich Jazz Orchestra will perform a selection of music written for Miles Davis by Gil Evans, and recorded on the legendary albums “Sketches of Spain” “Miles Ahead”, “Porgy & Bess” and “Quiet Nights”.

The program will be a true “Best Of” program, with the highlights from each album being performed in the original instrumentation, and with the incomparable Thomas Gansch as soloist.
The program will also include the final installment of the ZJO 30th anniversary composition by Ed Partyka, which will be orchestrated to feature the expanded instrumentation used by Gil Evans and rarely heard in more traditional big band music.

This concert will end our 2025/2026 concert season on a high note, and demonstrate yet another facet of the stylistic breadth and depth of the Zurich Jazz Orchestra.
