Am Festival «viel Jazz Zug» spielte das Zurich Jazz Orchestra erstmals neu arrangierte Kompositionen von René Twerenbold aus den 70er- und 80er Jahren – die Ränge waren voll, das Publikum war begeistert. Nun bringt das ZJO dieses historische und zugleich sehr aktuelle Programm nach Sarnen. René Twerenbold, ausgebildet als klassischer Musiker, entdeckte früh seine Leidenschaft für die Big-Band-Formation. Auszeichnungen und Preise am Amateur Jazz Festival Zürich in den 60er-Jahren mit der Witchtower Big Band Sarnen, Aufnahmen mit der DRS Big Band in den 70er-Jahren und die Konzerte der René Twerenbold Big Band aus den 80er-Jahren belegen dieses Faible eindrücklich.
