On November 8, we will be on stage with Claudia Döffinger for the second time in a year. So, of course, we couldn’t resist inviting her to talk about big band, passion, her teaching career, and her relationship with her former instructor, Ed Partyka.

Claudia says of herself that she is a big band musician with heart and soul. Today we talk to her about that very passion: where it began, where it took Claudia, and whether it’s still as inspiring as it was in the beginning. The German musician made her first big band experiences as a pianist. Today she stands in front of big bands as an arranger, composer and conductor and recently founded her own first big band. Regardless of the position, working in a big band feels to Claudia like “bathing in a cloud of brass.”
