Don Ellis hörte als Kind den Marsch «76 Trombones» einer Blasmusikkapelle und war vom Klang der Posaunen so beeindruckt, dass er das Instrument auf seine Weihnachts-Wunschliste schrieb. Unter dem Christbaum lag dann allerdings eine Trompete – der kleine Don hatte den falschen Namen auf den Zettel geschrieben. Er fand trotzdem baldGefallen am neuen, glänzenden Instrument. […]
